Practice Philosophy:
“Versatility”. If asked to choose one word to describe his practice, Dr. DiStasio would choose that. By definition a Navy residency in Orthopaedics creates confidence in Sports medicine and Advanced Arthroscopic Surgeries by the very nature of the patients cared for. Those skills are in use regularly some twenty years later. At the conclusion of his residency, Dr. DiStasio turned his interests towards Orthopaedic trauma and gained expertise at one of the world’s leading trauma programs-The Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
He is one of the region’s top orthopaedic trauma experts. Dedicated to the care of the poly trauma patient, he treats those with multiple injuries, complex joint, long bone, and pelvic injuries and fractures that won’t heal.
Besides his passion for Arthroscopy and Trauma-Adult reconstructions, Hip and Knee Replacement is a major area of interest. The first to perform minimally invasive Hip and Knee Replacements in Southeastern Virginia, he continues to advance surgery with new pain management practices, infection control, and MRI-patient matched technologies.
His latest interests includes developing a Destination Medicine/Surgical program based in the Turks & Caicos Islands for the increasingly popular Medical tourism movement modeled on his twenty-year experience with the Carlos Otis Stratton Mountain Clinic.
“Over the past twenty years I have enjoyed brining new techniques and technology to my patients. But in the end, it’s the Golden Rule that counts-I treat others as I’d like to be treated”.
From fractures to life-threatening events, from ear aches to stomach aches, from sore throats to sore muscles, our patients benefit from the highest level of care, right here at the base of Stratton Mountain.
