During a class project in junior high school, Dr. Goss followed and orthopaedic doctor for a day, discovering a career path that would someday serve his family and his community in ways no one could have foreseen. After completing studies at the University of Virginia, he pursued this career path via an orthopaedic residency at Dartmouth Medical Center. A fellowship in Spinal Disorders in South Australia followed, as did Army Reserve time.
Dr.Goss then returned back to Virginia to join the team at SMOC. Within 6 months however, his professional interest in the spine took an entirely new significance. A close family member suffered a catastrophic cervical spine injury, leaving him quadriplegic. To say this incident was a great personal and professional challenge is a significant understatement. This very personal experience helps drive his commitment to train in new techniques that treat disorders of the entire spine. He continues to
further his expertise, on a regular basis, to stay abreast of the wealth of cutting edge technologies that abound in the world of spinal surgery.
